Existing Patients

If you are already under the care of WMI Psychiatry, this page will help you understand the systems we use for ongoing care.

We aim to make follow up care clear, safe and straightforward. This includes guidance on appointments, prescriptions, medication monitoring, support letters, shared care and when to contact us.

Follow Up Appointments

Follow up appointments are used to review progress, monitor symptoms, discuss medication, check side effects and update treatment plans.

Medication changes can only usually be made during an appointment, as your clinician needs to review your response to treatment and ensure prescribing remains safe.

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be requested between appointments where this has been agreed as part of your treatment plan.

Please request prescriptions in advance to allow enough time for clinical review, processing and pharmacy dispensing.

Repeat prescriptions are charged at £6 per prescription.

Prescriptions cannot be issued if a medication review is overdue or if required monitoring information has not been provided.

Sedgley Park Pharmacy

To help provide a smooth and efficient prescribing service, WMI Psychiatry works closely with Sedgley Park Pharmacy in Prestwich, Manchester.

When a private prescription is issued, it can sent directly to the pharmacy, who will then contact you to arrange payment and delivery of your medication.

This process helps to:

  • Reduce delays in obtaining medication.

  • Ensure prescriptions are processed safely and efficiently.

  • Allow medication to be delivered directly to your home.

  • Provide access to a pharmacy team familiar with ADHD and psychiatric medications.

The pharmacy offers free medication delivery throughout the UK. For patients who require their medication more quickly, a guaranteed next working day delivery service is also available for an additional charge of £5.

If you have any questions about payment, delivery arrangements or medication availability, the pharmacy team will usually be able to assist directly. Their contact number is 0161 773 2750 and they are located at 33 Bury New Road, Prestwich, Manchester, M25 9JY.

Medication Monitoring

Some medications require regular monitoring, such as weight, blood pressure, pulse or other physical health checks.

We may ask you to provide updated observations before a prescription can be issued or during an appointment. This helps us prescribe safely and in line with good clinical practice.

Shared Care with Your GP

Where appropriate, we may write to your GP to request a shared care arrangement.

Shared care is always at the discretion of your GP practice. Some GP practices may decline shared care, even when treatment is stable. If this happens, WMI Psychiatry can usually continue prescribing privately, provided ongoing review and monitoring requirements are met.

Support Letters

Patients may request support letters for school, university, work, benefits or other purposes.

Support letters are separate from clinical appointments and may attract an additional fee depending on the nature and complexity of the request.
