ADHD Assessment
(Already Diagnosed)
Ongoing ADHD Care for Individuals Who Have Already Received a Diagnosis
If you have already been diagnosed with ADHD, you may not need a full ADHD diagnostic assessment to access ongoing treatment.
At WMI Psychiatry, we provide assessments for individuals who have previously received an ADHD diagnosis and would like to restart treatment, begin medication, continue medication or transfer their ongoing care to our clinic.
Whether your diagnosis was made recently or many years ago, we will carefully review your previous assessment, current symptoms and treatment history before developing a personalised management plan.
Appointments are available online throughout the UK and face-to-face at our Manchester clinic.
Who Is This Assessment Suitable For?
This assessment may be appropriate if:
You have previously been diagnosed with ADHD by another provider.
You are no longer under the care of your previous clinic.
You have never started medication but would like to discuss treatment.
You have stopped ADHD medication and would like to restart treatment.
You are currently receiving treatment elsewhere and would like WMI Psychiatry to provide your ongoing care.
You would like an independent specialist review of your current ADHD treatment.
If you are unsure whether this is the right assessment for you, our team will be happy to advise you before you book.
Do I Need Another ADHD Diagnostic Assessment?
Probably not.
If you have already received a diagnosis of ADHD supported by appropriate clinical information, a further diagnostic assessment should not be required.
Instead, our assessment focuses on reviewing your previous diagnosis, understanding your current symptoms and discussing the most appropriate treatment plan moving forward.
Where appropriate, we can continue your care without repeating the entire diagnostic process.
Occasionally, we may recommend a further diagnostic assessment before taking responsibility for your ongoing care. This is most commonly where the previous assessment does not provide sufficient information to demonstrate that current national diagnostic standards have been met or where the assessment was completed outside the UK and does not include the information required for us to prescribe safely.
If we believe that further assessment would be beneficial, we will explain our reasons clearly, discuss the available options with you and answer any questions you may have before any decisions are made.
Our Assessment Pathway
Our assessment pathway is delivered across two appointments. The first appointment focuses on gathering a detailed understanding of your previous diagnosis, treatment history and current presentation, while the second appointment allows an experienced psychiatric clinician to review this information, complete the clinical assessment and develop a personalised management plan.
This structured approach allows us to obtain comprehensive information before making treatment recommendations and ensures that sufficient time is available to provide safe, evidence-based care.
